Juneau をうまく読むには、town を four-part で考えると分かりやすいです。 まず Franklin / Seward / Front 周辺の downtown core。 次に waterfront と tram base。 そして museums と Native heritage の layer。 最後に Mendenhall side へ外へ伸ばす。
つまり Juneau は “downtown だけで終わる city” でも “glacier side trip town” でもありません。 両方を入れて初めて Juneau whole identity が見えてきます。

Franklin Street 周辺は州都 Juneau の practical heart で、 museums, bars, seafood, government buildings, docks が近い。 Cruise energy はありますが、それだけではありません。 実際に歩くと “working capital town” の顔がちゃんとあります。
初回ならまず downtown を歩くのが正解です。 そのあと tram や museum に行くと flow がきれいです。
